Akon - Artist Of A Lifetime

Akon is the multi award winning multi platinum selling recording artist who rose to prominence following the release of his first single “Locked Up” from his debut album “Trouble” in 2004 which achieved top ten statuses in both the UK and the USA. The Akon music video for this single also gained an incredible amount of airplay on the MTV. More singles were released and more stylish Akon music videos too including smash hits such as “Lonely” which became a massive number one in the UK, Germany and Australia.

Akons second album “Konvicted” was released in November 2006 and it included collaborations with rap superstars Eminem and Snoop Dog. The first single released was “Smack that” featuring Eminem and this single was accompanied by another cool Akon music video featuring a cameo by Eminem helping it to become a huge favorite on MTV. “I Wanna Love You” featuring Rap superstar Snoop Dog topped the US charts for two weeks and again was accompanied by another cool Akon music video. This album was another worldwide smash delivering multi platinum sales and once again confirming that a new R&B superstar was born.
Akon’s third album “Freedom” was released in 2008 and it spawned more hit singles and more stylish Akon music videos. The singles included “Right Now”, “I`m so paid” featuring Lil Wayne and Young Jeezy, and the hit song “Beautiful”. Once again all of Akons music videos were smash hits on MTV helping to make Akons fourth album a huge success. Rumor has it that Akon is planning a new album provisionally entitled “Stadium Music” for 2010 too plus a host of other collaborations with major artists like Whitney Houston, Leona Lewis and Hip hop artist Pitbull.
